Fieldwork and Internships
Field practicum is one of the most important and exciting parts of your social work education. You will integrate theory and hands-on skills through a minimum of 400 hours of fieldwork at human and social services organizations in the Philadelphia region under the guidance of a professional social worker. The field experience gives you opportunities to network with social service agencies and other organizations and prepares you to be competitive on the job market after graduation.
Fieldwork placements occur over two semesters. In preparation for your fieldwork experience, you will be guided by the School of Social Work’s , as well as supported by the BSW program director and BSW academic advisors.

- The , which provides students with the chance to spend a fall semester in the state capital of Harrisburg in a government-related internship.
- The Child Welfare Education for Baccalaureates program, which provides students the opportunity to work within a child welfare agency or organization in Philadelphia or a surrounding county.
